It seems like ages since we have known each other and we certainly feel the same as well. However, every story has a beginning and we are no different. It all began in the spring of 2013 when we subscribed to a site called eHarmony which matches couples based on the questions they answer and their personalities. To be fair, both of us wanted the exact opposite of what we got in each other. Jessica wanted a white or a black guy and I wanted an Indian girl. Well then, how did we ever connect? We are coming to that….
It so happened that we exchanged questionaires and emails about each other (some of them quite long, if I might add) until we finally decided to meet on Father’s Day 2013. There was nothing out of the ordinary to suggest that we were going to end up together nor did any sparks fly. We kept meeting and hanging out over the next few weeks when we realized that there was something more to our relationship. Both of us discovered that we had similar goals, the same zeal for ministry and God and most importantly we wanted to put God in the center of our relationship. Unknown to both of us, we had been praying until that time that our future partner put God above everything. God answers prayers and how has been seen in our lives.
We ourselves have been been astonished at God’s goodness and His grace in bringing us together. Too often we think we know what is right for us, but let me tell you this God knows better. How else can a girl from Washington and a guy from India who would have never met, let alone have a relationship with each other ever end up together? It can only be through God, who knows what we need the best. We know what you might be thinking, when did you guys decided that you wanted to get married? We have known that we were meant to be together since August 2013 when I proposed to Jessica spontaneously. If you ask us how did you know it, we only have one answer and that is we felt the peace of God when we prayed together a few days earlier.
The secret foundation of our relationship is Christ who is the cornerstone and upon Him we have started building our lives. If you ever heard of the phrase, “a family that prays together stays together”, it couldn’t be more truer in our case because ever since we’ve started dating, we have always taken the time to pray everyday throughout.
We are blessed with an amazing little boy named Josiah, who is the light of our lives. He is a live wire and loves worship songs which makes my heart glad. It has been an amazing journey so far, and it will continue to be amazing as long as we put the Lord in the front and center of our lives until we are in His presence forever.
